Mission:
The Coast Guard Family Organization (CGFO) was established for Coast Guard families with a strong focus on the spouses of Coast Guard members (active and reserve). Their goals are philanthropic in nature and the organization is seeking non-profit 501(c)(3) status.
The Board of Directors of CGFO consists of volunteers who do not receive any financial compensation. The Board and counselors act to serve the Coast Guard family community in the way of education, providing of resources, and advocacy. This organization is nonpartisan and is not politically motivated.
Counselors will offer financial and personal and development mentorship upon request by eligible Coast Guard spouses. Additionally, the CGFO has established a Coast Guard spouse scholarship and the initial award shall be distributed in the summer of 2009. Monies for said scholarship shall be provided as a result of various fundraisers and donations provided to the fund.
Monthly news shall be posted on the website. The quarterly newsletter shall be available to all who sign up for it via email. Interested parties may contact admin@coastguardfamily.org to sign up.
Purpose and Funding:
The CGFO shall serve and make efforts to provide support to Coast Guard spouses. Fundraising efforts shall be made to provide funds for various philanthropic ventures of the Organization, including, but not limited to the Coast Guard Spouse Scholarship.
